BayBio, BIOCOM and SoCalBio Establish the California Life Science Alliance
Regional Biotech Organizations Join Forces to Promote California's
Leadership in Life Science Innovation

The California Life Science Alliance is based upon a memorandum of understanding signed at the 2008 BIO International Convention in San Diego. Under the terms of the three-year agreement, SoCalBio, BIOCOM and BayBio  will pool resources and work together to address a range of public policy issues. The new alliance recognizes that California is the birthplace of biotechnology and the undisputed leader in global biocommerce and innovation.   • Defibrillator Marker Cameron Health Takes in $51 Million in Venture Funding
    The San Clemente-based maker of implantable devices for treating cardiac disorders, raised $51.5 million in Series E funding. PTV Sciences was joined by return backers Boston Scientific, Delphi Ventures, Sorrento Ventures, Three Arch Partners and Versant Ventures. Piper Jaffray served as placement agent. So far, Cameron has raised over $130 million since its founding in 2001.
