The Calabasas-based KYTHERA announced on January 6 that it had successfully completed two Phase 2 clinical studies demonstrating the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of its lead product candidate, ATX-101, for the reduction of submental ('under-the-chin') fat. The two Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging studies enrolled a total of 157 patients and were conducted across 10 centers in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Cameron Health Commences Clinical Trial of the Minimally Invasive Totally Subcutaneous Implantable Defibrillator for Treatment of Sudden Cardiac Arrest
 
The San Clemente-based Cameron Health announced the first CE trial implants in Europe and New Zealand for Cameron Health's Subcutaneous Implantable Defibrillator (S-ICD) System. The minimally invasive S-ICD System is prescribed for use in patients at risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).  The system is unique in that the implantation of the system is entirely subcutaneous; no leads are in or on the heart. Additionally, there is no imaging equipment required for placement of the S-ICD System, as all of the components may be positioned using anatomical landmarks.... Read more
