Herman Ostrow Donates $35 Million to USC Dentistry

 
Herman Ostrow (middle in adjacent photo), a USC trustee and entrepreneur who graduated from the dental school in 1945, made the gift which is believed to be the largest individual donation to a dental school in the United States. In recognition of the donation, the school has been renamed the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. The gift will help renovate and improve clinical facilities, bring in new faculty members and support research... Read more

Vertos Medical Completes Enrollment in a Post-Market, Patient Outcome Study of a Device for Stenosis

The Aliso Viejo-based medical device company Vertos Medical Inc. has announced the completion of enrollment in its post-market U.S. IRB (Institutional Review Board) I Patient Outcomes Trial, a 75-patient study of the mild procedure. The open-label, single-arm, prospective, IRB-approved study is intended to gather patient outcomes data following treatment for symptomatic central canal spinal stenosis using proprietary mild devices.... Read more

New Study Shows ImmunoCellular Therapeutics' Lead Investigational Cancer Vaccine ICT-107 Targets Cancer Stem Cells
Manish Singh, PhD, President and CEO of the Woodland Hills-based ImmunoCellular Therapeutics said "cancer stem cells are like the roots of weeds that they may be undetectable after the tumor is resected, but if they are not effectively targeted, the tumor will almost certainly come back. We believe the ability of ICT-107 to target cancer stem cells meaningfully differentiates it from other cancer vaccines in development." ... Read more
