| Immunocellular Therapeutics' Brain Cancer Vaccine Extends Survival Rate in Small Trial

The Woodland Hills-based Immunocellular Therapeutics announced that its brain cancer vaccine yielded positive results in a small Phase I clinical trial. The overall patient survival rate was 100 percent at one year and 80 percent at two years, compared to a historical survival rate with standard therapy of 61.1 percent at one year and 26.5 percent at two years. Amgen Bone Drug Cuts Prostate Cancer Bone Problems
A third pivotal trial of Amgen Inc's (AMGN.O) denosumab found that it significantly delayed the likelihood of suffering fractures and other bone complications in men with advanced prostate cancer compared with current therapy.... Read more
Abraxane Outperforms Taxol in Lung Cancer Study
Abraxis Bioscience Inc said its cancer drug Abraxane outperformed the generic drug Taxol in patients with non-small cell lung cancer, without requiring patients to take steroids or antihistamines. The company said 33 percent of patients who got Abraxane in combination with the chemotherapy drug carboplatin responded to it, compared with 25 percent of patients who got chemotherapy combined with Taxol, a drug developed by Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY.N) that is available generically as paclitaxel ...
