Lifesciences Grants UC Irvine $5 Million to Establish the Edwards
Lifesciences Center for Advanced Cardiovascular Technology

commitment to strengthening the communities in which we live and

The Broad Foundation Donates $20 Million to UCLA Stem Cell Institute
Owen Witte (photo right), professor of microbiology, immunology and
director of the UCLA Stem Cell
Institute, said the gift will help UCLA advance its science more
quickly, positioning stem cell center scientists at the leading-edge
of this emerging field.

the Laguna Hills-based Saddleback Eye Center endows a chair in corneal laser surgery
which will support ongoing research related to correction of nearsightedness,
farsightedness and other refractive errors. David Huang, associate
professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Keck School,
director of the Laser Vision Center at the Doheny Eye Institute and
inventor of optical coherence tomography, will hold the inaugural
chair in corneal laser surgery.
