Get a glimpse of the progress being made by Los Angeles/Orange County firms in using adult stem cell research to tackle diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cardiac Disease, Diabetes, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Leukemia, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson's, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Spinal Cord Injury, Autoimmune Disorders, and Stroke

Speakers will discuss how stem cell research promises to change the pharmaceutical manufacturing regime from one dominated by mass production of bulk drugs to one centered around individualized patient therapies. This regime shift may result in cheaper and more effective therapies, but it also raises thorny issues -- as demonstrated in the recent FDA public hearings -- about how stem cell trials will be structured, what constitutes compelling evidence in evaluating cell-based treatments, and how therapies will be regulated.

Speakers

  • Chris Airriess, COO, California Stem Cell, Inc. (Irvine)

  • Oliver Foellmer, President & CEO, Capricor (Los Angeles)

  • John Sundsmo, President, PrimeGen Biotech (Irvine)
