Land Use/Facility
Planning
|
| The
Southland is a biomedical research powerhouse. But one of the obstacles
in commercializing this research in Los Angeles is the shortage of
suitable facilities and research parks to meet the needs of both new
biomed/biotech firms and established firms seeking expansion (See Battling
to Stop Area's 'Brain Drain', by Paul Jacobs,
LA Times, June 7, 1999).
Since its founding the SCBC -- through its Land
Use & Facilitiy Planning Committee -- has been active in putting together
successful partnerships to
accommodate the real estate needs of the Greater LA biomed/biotech
industry.
