The Southern California Biomedical Council (SoCalBio or SCBC) is pleased to announce that its effort to build a directory of the bioscience industry in Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Riverside and  San Bernardino counties is nearing completion. 

Sponsored by Southern California Edison, this initiative has already identified close to 1000 companies employing about 85,000 people and operating in the six-county Greater Los Angeles region. The map above shows the geographical distribution of the majority of these companies.

Companies covered include those operating in the following sub-segments of the industry: biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, medical devices (inc. hospital supplies, ophthalmic goods and handicapped equipment),  in vitro diagnostics (inc. reagents), and dedicated manufacturers of research instruments.

The full directory when ready will be made available to SoCalBio members in print and online to enhance region-wide networking, identify partnership opportunities, and increase business transactions.

We will also use this directory in our efforts to generate studies to increase the profile of the industry and attract positive media attention to it.
